Questions

What hours can telemarketers legally call?
Federal TCPA rules allow telephone solicitations only between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the called person's local time. Many states are stricter, with later starts, earlier cut-offs, Sunday bans or holiday bans. The stricter rule always wins.
Whose time zone counts: mine or theirs?
Theirs. A call center in New York dialing at 8:30 p.m. is fine for a Los Angeles number (5:30 p.m. there) but may be too late for a Florida number, where calls must end at 8 p.m.
How does the checker know the local time?
From the number's area code. Some area codes cover two time zones (for example parts of Florida, Texas, Kentucky and Tennessee). For those we check both zones and only say "OK" when it's allowed in both.
Is this legal advice?
No. It's a fast guide based on published state rules. Rules have exceptions and change over time, numbers can be ported to a different area, and governors can declare extra holidays. Check with counsel for your specific campaigns.
